Ben Affleck in line to direct Stephen King's The Stand
Ben Affleck in line to direct Stephen King's The Stand, Warner Bros. has been looking to get an adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand on the big screen for awhile now. Back in August it was reported that Harry Potter director David Yates was in final negotiations to direct the film. Either that information was wrong or things didn't work out, because today it's being reported that the studio has chosen Ben Affleck to take on the epic apocalyptic story. This would be Affleck's biggest directing challenge yet.

Afflect directed both Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and is currently directing his film Argo. I think Affleck has got a good talent for directing, he's better at it than acting. I think he will do a solid job of bringing this story to life on the big screen. I think this is the kind of film he's been working toward, and I hope he does a great job brining it to life. I love this story, I enjoyed the TV mini-series and I'm looking forward to seeing what Affleck ends up doing with it. The last we heard Warner Bros. was planning to turn the story into a trilogy of films. I assume that is still what they want to do.

The Stand tells the story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. While it features dozens of characters (such as the Trashcan Man and Mother Abigail) and overlapping story lines running over many years, the struggle boils down to a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.
